Home for me, home for my stuff
A home. You only realise it when it’s not there. I’ve finally moved to my own place. Well, it technically belongs to the bank, I am just “renting” it from the bank by paying the mortgage. But it’s a step closer to owning my own place.
I have recently moved to a new place. Unpacking boxes of stuff and putting them into place made me realise that everything needs a home. Even I need a home. I use to think that home is a state of mind. Home is just where I happen to be and I can be comfortable doing anything. I guess the latter still holds true, but it’s not longer just a state of mind.
The mind has to have a home too. Just like the pencil (yes, I still use pencil!). It’s got pencil box to hold it. The pencil box has got a shelf to hold it. The shelf has got a flat to hold it. The flat is held by a large building. The large building is held up by Earth. The Earth is held in place in the Solar System circling the Sun. The Sun is held in place by other “suns” to form part of the Milky Way – the galaxy. And i’m sure this is only one galaxy being held in place by other galaxies… Every piece of thing has got a home. When it hasn’t got a home, the balance in nature is broken. This is no more truer for the small me that sits in this big world. And to think that I can do without a physical home. Only to be humbled by the humble pencil.
I guess this also stems from the way I am organising my “stuff” now. From physical stuff like the pencil to have a home where I can put it back easily and retrieve from it easily, to an A to Z reference system for which I can file easily and search from it easily, to the projects I plan to do e.g. “fix internet connection” (which I am finally using now) to bigger projects like “set up a charity action plan” which I have made a first step.
Now, even I need a place where I can be “filed” easily (return home) and easily “retrieved” (leave home because I am needed to perform my work). I hope this new home will be that filing system for all my stuff and more importantly, for me.
