Things i didn’t know i still have

I just got an email from a company which i haven’t used for almost 2 years now, saying that my account will be terminated in a month’s time. I didn’t know i still have that account activated, and i guess I didn’t really care whether that account is still active.

That’s the thing about accounts, online accounts more so than offline. It’s quite hard to keep track of all the accounts that you open. For things you can touch, at least, there’s a physical footprint. You get paper statements, paper contracts, brochures now and again. For online services, unless you’re a virtual forensic scientist, i doubt you remember or care what accounts you have. The virtual footprints do not mean much, unless it crashes your computer.

Recently, I’ve been seduced into organising. I figured that if I manage to organise those things right from the start, i don’t need to go mad just to look for it when i really need it. I’ve never done so with online accounts though. I’ve started doing it on my emails, so that whatever emails i get from these online accounts, i have a reference for them. That means i have to keep tabs with my email accounts… sigh, the accounts that i need to keep tabs on are just endless. What happened to keeping it simple?
